Ken Greer, foreman at Camp Steel has finally retired at the age of 67 and was given a great send off with cake and fizz by the company’s Chairman,  Managing Director, colleagues and family.

Ken started work at Camp Steel in November 1979 and when the company was bought by the Tamworth Steel Group in 1999 all of the staff were kept on. Ken’s experience, hard working nature and unique sense of humour ensured he was a valuable member of the team.

From his colleagues at Camp Steel, Ken was presented with a framed spoof front page of a newspaper, a cut glass tankard full of money from a collection from the staff, an Aston Villa shirt with his name on the back and the number 43 denoting his years of service along with a handmade ‘Man Of Steel’ figure from colleagues at Worcester Steel.

Branch Manager Nick Brown said ‘We’ll miss Ken tremendously as he is a larger than life force here at Camp Steel – the place will be so much quieter without him! We wish him every happiness in his retirement and hope he enjoys the well deserved rest!”
